UNRAVELS EMOTIONAL CHAOS ON NEW SINGLE
“SCREWLOOSE”
TODAY, MAY 22

NASHVILLE, TN (May 22, 2026) — Recently recognized by The New York Times, Reuters, NPR, and USA Today following her viral national anthem performance during an NHL playoff game, and formally introduced to national audiences as a finalist on NBC’s The Voice (Season 19), singer-songwriter Cami Clune steps into the spotlight once again with her emotionally charged new single, “Screwloose,” today. Blending raw vulnerability with infectious energy, the track captures the strange emotional limbo of feeling disconnected at the end of a relationship — and questioning whether the problem might actually be yourself.

“‘Screwloose’ is about reaching the point of emotional exhaustion in a relationship, but realizing the problem might actually be you,” Cami shares. “It’s the confusion of watching someone fall apart over the ending while you feel relieved, detached, and completely okay, wondering whether you’re in denial, if you truly don’t care anymore, or if there’s just something wrong with you. The song actually begins with a sigh to symbolize that exact feeling of exhaustion, and starts soft and reflective before completely spiraling into chaos. It’s fun and catchy on the surface, but underneath it’s brutally honest.”

Beginning with a subtle sigh before unraveling into a chaotic, cathartic release, “Screwloose” mirrors the emotional spiral that comes with burnout, heartbreak, and self-doubt. While the song leans into an upbeat, catchy sound, its lyrics reveal a much darker internal dialogue — one centered around emotional numbness, guilt, and the unsettling realization that detachment can feel easier than devastation.

Clune first captured national attention as a finalist on NBC’s The Voice (Season 19), earning a rare four-chair turn and coach block while introducing audiences to her commanding vocals and theatrical approach to performance. Since then, she has evolved into an independent artist blending pop, rock, country, and cinematic storytelling into a sound uniquely her own.

Most recently, Clune drew widespread national coverage following a viral national anthem performance during an NHL playoff game between the Buffalo Sabres and Boston Bruins. After a microphone malfunction interrupted her performance of “O Canada,” the Buffalo crowd spontaneously carried the anthem themselves, creating a widely shared moment of unity highlighted by many including The New York Times, Reuters, NPR, and USA Today. As the primary anthem singer for the Buffalo Sabres, she has also performed at Buffalo Bills games, NASCAR events, and SailGP.

Raised in the suburbs of Buffalo, New York, Clune grew up immersed in music, musical theatre, and performance from an early age. Influenced by artists ranging from Linda Ronstadt and Stevie Nicks to Olivia Rodrigo and Evanescence, she developed a genre-fluid artistic identity rooted in emotional storytelling and raw honesty. Early training in dance, piano, and theatre shaped her understanding of music as narrative-driven expression — a perspective that continues to define her songwriting today.

Now entering a new creative chapter, Clune is preparing to release a 2026 EP written during a period of personal transition, heartbreak, and emotional self-discovery. Initially developed with producer Grabbitz and later completed alongside Keegan Ferrell in Nashville, the forthcoming project explores identity, fantasy versus reality, emotional chaos, and growth through songs that balance vulnerability with expansive, cinematic production.

With an unfiltered approach to songwriting, Cami continues carving out a space for emotionally honest pop music that embraces imperfection and contradiction. “Screwloose” is only the beginning of this new chapter, showcasing both her sharp storytelling and her ability to pair introspective themes with memorable hooks, creating a track that feels equally fun, chaotic, and deeply relatable.
