NASHVILLE, TN (October 17, 2025) — Today, Boston-based folk singer-songwriter Robin Young has unveiled her debut album, Letters to a Ghost. A decade in the making, the 10-track collection serves as an emotional time capsule, reflecting on Robin’s first experience with love after moving to Boston at eighteen.

Produced by Ryan Gallagher at Plaid Dog Recording, Letters to a Ghost follows a relationship that stretched across some of her most defining years. Some songs were written in the thick of it; others emerged only after time lent clarity. The result is a raw, folk-driven portrait of obsession, heartbreak, and healing. Robin shares, “Creating this album has given me the closure that I was never able to get from the relationship that inspired it. I almost felt like I was giving my younger self a hug, letting her know that I’m proud of her for making it through the seemingly unending waves of grief that I was feeling at the time.”
The most recent single, “There’s a Part of Me” (released September 17) offers a raw confession of a heart torn between moving forward and holding on, capturing the painful truth that letting go of love — even when it’s destructive — is never easy. The Bluegrass Situation praised the track, saying, “‘There’s a Part of Me’…artfully balances country and bluegrass grit with a lush, glossy polish.” Filmed in Chesterfield, MA, the accompanying music video depicts Robin walking thoughtfully through the wilderness, recalling how painful that chapter once felt, but also acknowledging the deeper sense of being valued she has found since.

Her sophomore single, “Brooklyn” (released August 13), reflects on a pivotal night during a 2018 trip to New York, when she realized she was dreading returning to a marriage that no longer felt right. The accompanying video recreates that moment in time. Americana Highways lauded, “Beautiful footage…dovetails perfectly with the song and its messages of ennui and how it feels to spend time alone. Robin Young crafts this music to reach the goal of soul searching expression and that vibe is captured exactly here.”

The project’s lead single, “Free” (July 16), is a cathartic anthem of release from a long, on-again, off-again relationship, carried by soaring vocals, layered harmonies, and a slow-burning build that swells into a liberating goodbye. AmericanaUK commended, “Young’s lyrics are thoughtful and carefully chosen to add both power and authentic feeling…beautifully crafted and arranged.” Filmed at the historic Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury, MA, the music video for “Free” follows Robin as she moves through the scenic grounds, using music as a means of shedding the weight of a toxic relationship. “I wrote ‘Free’ at the moment I realized I didn’t love or hate him anymore — I felt indifferent,” Robin says. “That emotional neutrality was powerful, and I wanted the music to reflect that quiet kind of freedom.”

After studying songwriting at Berklee, Robin stepped away from music to explore other passions. A marriage that discouraged emotional reflection left her songs unwritten. Now, from a quiet cabin outside of Boston, and with a supportive partner, she’s finally letting her words flow.
At its core, Letters to a Ghost explores how someone can stay with you long after they’re gone — a presence felt more in memory than reality. Across the 10 tracks, Robin traces the journey of letting go through one-sided letters written not to be sent, but to find the closure she never received. “These letters are conversations with the idea of him,” she explains, “written for my own healing, not for his response.” The album is a masterclass in release, weaving poignant melodies that allow Robin — and listeners — to confront pain and finally move forward.
With her debut, Robin Young invites us into a deeply personal story marked by heartbreak and resilience. Letters to a Ghost is an invitation to grieve, heal, and ultimately, find freedom.
