NASHVILLE, TN (September 12, 2025) — In celebration of what would have been George Jones’s 94th birthday, Nashville’s husband-and-wife neotraditional country duo Alyssa & Wayne Brewer honor the country icon with Lonesome & Blue, out today via SGM Records – Sony / The Orchard.

Featuring 10 songs, the collection serves as Alyssa & Wayne Brewer’s second sincere homage to George Jones and Tammy Wynette and includes legendary steel guitarist Tom Killen, a longtime member of “The Jones Boys.”

Coinciding with the release of the album, the Brewers unveil its focus track, “Milwaukee Here I Come.” Alyssa & Wayne share, “‘Milwaukee Here I Come’ really captures the gitty-up-and-go of what we’re about… a live favorite that honors our bluegrass roots while tipping our hat to George & Tammy. It’s an iconic up-tempo tune that showcases us vocally, with Tom Killen shining on pedal steel, proving why he had one of the longest runs as a Jones Boy!”

Wayne shares, “This album is about capturing the heart of an era that the songs came from and authentically delivering it in a way that feels alive today.” Alyssa adds, “This record is for the fans who grew up in that golden era, and for the younger generation just now discovering its magic. What you hear on this album is exactly what you’ll get at our live shows — a timeless connection, not just nostalgia. After shows, folks are asking if we have any recorded versions of these songs, and now we do!”

Alyssa’s voice is an achingly beautiful instrument, combining Wynette’s tear-in-the throat delivery with a sweet vulnerability reminiscent of a young Dolly Parton. Though she possesses some of the timeless qualities of her heroes, and Wayne’s admiration for his influences is reflected in the production, the couple deliver a finely crafted project that never veers into imitation, but remains rooted in their own unique gifts.

Ahead of the album, the duo released two singles: the title track and lone original, “Lonesome & Blue” (July 2025), featured by The Bluegrass Situation and Cowgirl Magazine; followed by their stirring rendition of “Tattletale Eyes” (August 27), commemorating the song’s 1976 anniversary and also praised by Cowgirl Magazine as “nostalgic yet refreshing, their take honors country’s golden age while weaving in their distinctive modern sound.”
