Blending alt-pop intimacy with folk warmth and subtle country influence, “Clementines” highlights a softer, more reflective side of Naomi’s evolving sound. Following the satirical, country-pop bite of “Pumpkin Eater,” “Clementines” reveals a more intimate side of Naomi’s evolving sound. Co-written by Naomi Jane, Joey Hyde, and Adam Zelkind, the track centers on small, unspoken acts of care, from coffee poured into your favorite mug to the bed already made and a kiss on the cheek, capturing a kind of love that asks for nothing in return. Built around the lyric — “You’ll always pick the fruit right off the vine, so I’ll peel your clementines” — the song frames love as instinctive and reciprocal, something steady, deeply felt, and woven into daily life.
“Clementines is about the kind of love that doesn’t need to announce itself,” Naomi shares. “It’s the coffee poured, the bed made, the little things someone does without waiting for thanks. Someone peeling a clementine for me was one of the sweetest things anyone’s done for me because it was so simple and thoughtful. Now I do it for others, and the smell that stays on my hands reminds me how much love can live in the smallest gesture.”
Produced and mixed by Adam Zelkind, the track trades sharp edges for warmth, pairing understated production with Naomi’s expressive vocal. Pedal steel from Greg Leisz adds a timeless Americana glow, grounding the song in organic texture while keeping it modern and repeat-ready.

Kinda Sorta Country marks a defining creative statement for Naomi — a coming-of-age album that embraces the full scope of her influences without abandoning the cinematic alt-pop foundation that first introduced her to listeners. Blending country storytelling traditions with indie vulnerability, theatrical flair, and hook-driven pop production, the record captures Naomi at the crossroads of grit and glitter, heartbreak and humor, self-reflection and self-possession. From summer-ready euphoric anthems to stripped-back acoustic ballads, the album showcases the widest emotional and sonic range of her career to date.
The project arrives as the culmination of a relentless creative run that has seen Naomi release new music roughly every six weeks since 2023, each paired with fully realized visuals and interconnected storytelling. What began with emotionally charged releases like “IDWK” — a turning-point single that signaled the emotional shift into a new era — now fully crystallizes on Kinda Sorta Country, where flashes of country instrumentation and Americana textures naturally fold into her cinematic songwriting universe.
“‘Kinda Sorta Country’ does not reinvent me — it clarifies me, louder, sharper, and fully in command of my own story,” Naomi shares.
Across the record, collaborators bridge legacy and modernity, including pedal steel legend Greg Leisz, multi-platinum Nashville songwriter Joey Hyde, Glen Phillips of Toad the Wet Sprocket, Greg Holden, and Jimmy Mattingly of Garth Brooks’ touring band, alongside production from Adam Zelkind. Together, they help shape a cohesive sonic world rooted in storytelling, organic instrumentation, and emotional precision.
