NASHVILLE, TN (August 12, 2026) — Blending country, Americana, and ‘70s yacht rock, Texas-born singer-songwriter Effy Harvard, known for her timeless twang, will release her new single, “Heatwave,” on Friday, August 21. Written by Effy, Heather Morgan, and Jade Eagleson and recorded at Modern Electric Sound Recorders in Texas, the track weaves pedal steel, organ, and layered guitars into a warm, nostalgic sound that nods to the sun-soaked textures of ‘70s yacht rock while remaining rooted in Effy’s country and Americana sensibilities.

Effy shares, “I wrote ‘Heatwave’ to experience how a summer love feels like freedom, everything is exciting and somehow familiar.”

Most recently, Effy released “Cowboy Season” in March, a sultry, bouncy anthem celebrating the cowboy species while continuing her mission to revive the golden age of honky-tonk. The single follows her 2025 releases “Answering Machine” and “Without You Loving Me,” which further established her distinctive sound. Anchored by soulful pedal steel, lively guitar, and swirling fiddle, “Answering Machine” delivers high-energy honky-tonk flair made for yelling along to in the car or two-stepping at a dive bar, while “Without You Loving Me” offers a poignant reflection on unrequited love. Born and raised in Texas, Effy grew up surrounded by music and adventure. Her father and uncle, both musicians, often filled local saloons and family gatherings with melodies that shaped her early love for country music. She has long been inspired by the golden era of the ‘50s, from pedal steel and raw chord progressions to the glamour of Marilyn Monroe and Rita Hayworth, incorporating that visual and sonic aesthetic into her modern artistry.

Her songwriting is equally personal, drawing from life experiences including bizarre dating tales and heartbreaks while creating songs that give listeners space to reflect and heal. A pivotal moment in her journey came when her father, in a coma, awoke as she and her sister played his favorite song, “Carolina in My Mind” by James Taylor. The experience reinforced music’s power as a bridge between generations, further shaping her understanding of music as a source of connection and comfort.

Now based in Austin, Effy blends classic country, ‘60s and ‘70s folk and rock, and modern influences into a timeless, emotionally honest sound. Drawing inspiration from legends including Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Chuck Berry, and Sam Cooke, she creates everything from rollicking honky-tonk shuffles to tear-in-your-beer ballads.
