Named after a small Texas town that sits between where its story began and where it ultimately came together, the band officially introduces itself today with the release of its debut single, “Fool’s Gold,” alongside the premiere of its official lyric video.

“Fool’s Gold” channels soaring harmonies, ringing guitars, organ, pedal steel, and a chorus built for communal singing into a reflection on the growing disconnect between genuine human connection and the endless pursuit of validation in the digital age.

Jordan notes, “We’re living in an age where everyone’s striving to find the next endorphin hit. Whether that’s a ‘like’ on Instagram or TikTok, or somebody giving you a compliment. I think ‘Fool’s Gold’ is all about striving for something more than that.”

For Mikaela, the song serves as a reminder of why art matters in the first place. “It can be so easy to forget the true purpose behind creating art,” she says. “For me, that purpose is connection, not validation.”

“Fool’s Gold” was written and produced by Austin Davidson, Jordan Burchill, and Mikaela Burchill (the members of Lorena). The track features Austin Davidson and Jordan Burchill on guitars, Sam Pankey on bass, Kyle Thompson on drums, Marcell Coleman on organ, and Zack Wiggs on pedal steel. It was engineered by Austin Davidson and Kyle Lent, mixed by Kyle Lent, and mastered by Joe Causey at Voyager Mastering.
